It’s 1986 and Italy is connecting for the first time to the Internet: a boundless horizon of possibilities stands out in front of us. From the infinity of the cosmos to microstructures that can be explored with nanotechnologies: "how the hell will life be in 2020?" we ask ourselves in the semi-darkness of our home, illuminated by the green phosphors of a personal computer.

Flying cars, androids at our service and the dream of an eternal life ...
Yet we are here, we are in 2020, the future is now ... and everything is as before.

Heck...something must have got stuck in the mechanism, a few pages of the instruction manual is definitely lost during the journey, the Law of Accelerating Returns has crashed. That’s what that acrid short circuit smell is: burnt transistors...
"2020" is all of this. It’s the bitter aftertaste that remains in your mouth for promised and unfulfilled progress. It’s the discomfort for not having landed on the desert of Mars yet and observing the orbit of Fobos and Deimos, its two moons. It’s the disillusionment for a future of silicon, neon lights and freeze-dried food which is half a meter in front of us but which we cannot grasp.
